Dopo l’immancabile bicchiere di Riesling in piazza del duomo,  vado all’Extended Thursday del Museum Ludwig di Köln. Questi Giovedì sera (cominciano alle 22) sono sempre delle sorprese. Stasera  c’è un’unica opera, un lavoro dell’artista messicana Iratxe Felguerez, un work in progress, si intitola Deepwater Horizon.
Da una settimana ogni giorno l’artista  porta  nella sala quattro a pianoterra,  quella dedicata alle esposizioni temporanee, un milionenovecentosettemilaottocentoquatantasette bottiglie vuote di latte da un litro. La sala è piena, in alcuni punti fino al soffitto, e Iratxe assieme ad alcuni collaboratori continua ininterrottamente a scaricare bottiglie dai camion che sono parcheggiati nella rampa a fianco all’edificio di Oswald Mathias Ungers.
Cerco di capire il perché del numero 1.907.847… non ci sono didascalie o schede informative, solo una tabella con uno strano conto, mi trascrivo i dati sul quaderno.

After the inevitable glass of Riesling in Piazza del Duomo, I go to the Extended Thursday at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne. These Thursday evenings (which start at 10 pm) are always full of surprises. Tonight there is a single work, a work by the Mexican artist Iratxe Felguerez, a work in progress; it’s called Deepwater Horizon. 
Beginning a week ago, everyday the artist brings to room number four on the ground floor, the one dedicated to temporary exhibitions, one-million-nine-hundred-seven-thousand-eight-hundred-forty-seven empty one-litre milk bottles. The room is full, in some places up to the ceiling. Along with some collaborators, Iratxe continues uninterruptedly with the unloading of bottles from trucks that are parked on the ramp alongside the building designed by Oswald Mathias Ungers. 
 I try to understand the ‘why’ of the number 1,907,847 … there are no captions or information sheets, only a chart with a strange calculation, I transcribe the data in my notebook.
